The coronomeckelian is a membrane bone that ossifies on Meckel's cartilage where the tendon from the adductor mandibulae A3 inserts (6.1mm). In the adult, the coronomeckelian is a small, irregularly shaped bone that is fused to the dorsomedial surface of the anguloarticular, just dorsal to Meckel's cartilage.
