Anatomical cluster that is the series of dermal bones surrounding the orbit and associated with the infraorbital sensory canal. [ TAO:GA_TG ]
Term information
- ZFA:0001649
The infraorbital series may include the antorbital, a variable number of infraorbitals, and dermosphenotic (or posteriormost dorsal infraorbital). The infraorbital series may be formed by seven (primitively) or less bones in teleosts. Consequently, the so called dermosphenotic may correspond to the seventh, sixth or fifth bone, etc., depending on the taxon.
This class was sourced from an external ontology (teleost_anatomy). Its definitions, naming conventions and relationships may need to be checked for compatibility with uberon
