A cell morphology phenotype observed in the vegetative growth phase of the life cycle in which a cell is inviable, has two nuclei, and has normal length but a greater diameter than normal. [ http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20805322 https://www.pombase.org/gene/mah ]
Synonyms: lethal; binucleate vegetative cell, with normal cell length and increased cell diameter inviable binucleate cell, with normal cell length and increased cell diameter, during vegetative growth inviable binucleate vegetative cell, with normal length and increased diameter inviable binucleate vegetative cell, with increased cell diameter and normal cell length
Term information
When using this term, also consider annotating to a cell cycle arrest term, such as 'abnormal cell cycle arrest in mitotic telophase' (FYPO:0000622); 'abnormal cell cycle arrest in mitotic anaphase' (FYPO:0000619) may be applicable if the assay detects DNA masses. Binucleate cells often arise as a result of cell cycle arrest.
